The goal is the Paris Olympics! SEISA Kokusai Kawaguchi, Rena HAMAYA will participate in "The 60th Modern Pentathlon All Japan Championship"!

Swimming, fencing, equestrian, shooting and running - some athletes compete in each discipline, while others compete in all five disciplines as a single event. The Modern Pentathlon, which started in 1912 at the Stockholm Olympics, has recently gained attention as the ultimate triathlon.

To prepare for the Olympics, some students at SEISA are training daily to compete in the Modern Pentathlon. One student in particular, Ms. Moe ARIJI, who graduated from the high school in March 2020, is still remembered as a member of the "Modern Pentathlon" club at SEISA Kokusai high School Kawaguchi.

SEISA Kokusai high school Kawaguchi 2nd year student Rena HAMAYA will participate in the "60th All Japan Modern Pentathlon Championship" to be held from Thursday 26th to Sunday 29th November 2020. When she was in junior high school, she participated in the World Championships as a U17 representative, and she has a bright future waiting for her.

In order to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a Modern Pentathlon fencer, she enrolled at SEISA Kokusai high School Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, far away from home. She has been practicing with junior and senior students who are representing Japan in fencing and Modern Pentathlon, including Mao KOKUBO, the youngest ever winner at the recent Japan Fencing Championships.

Other students in the athlete course at SEISA Kokusai High School Kawaguchi include next generation Japanese table tennis players such as Miyuu KIHARA, Haruna OJIO and Sora MATSUSHIMA. The school is fully equipped with state-of-the-art fencing training facilities. The school is also known for its friendly and natural interaction with other students.

No Japanese have ever won a medal in Modern Pentathlon at the Olympics. Students from the Modern Pentathlon Club that studied at SEISA are on track to become Japan's first medal winners. Please look forward to seeing Rena HAMAYA and the other students' performances. The 60th All Japan Modern Pentathlon Championship will be held on Thursday, November 26, 2020.
