カテゴリー:SEISA NEWS(EN)
SEISA Kokusai Koriyama has been delivering "Life-Protecting Classes" throughout Japan since 2020. Students from all over Japan, from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south, have participated in the program. This class is a part of SEISA Kokusai Koriyama's SDGs and disaster prevention seminar, and is offered as a realistic and persuasive class that is possible only in Koriyama, which experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake and Typhoon No.19 in 2019. In the past few years, there have been a series of disasters across the country, such as sudden heavy rains, that have caused tremendous damage. This is an important time to learn the knowledge, wisdom, and actions to protect our own lives, the lives of our families, and the lives of the communities we live in.
The lecturer is Mr. Yasunori SAITO, a meteorologist, disaster prevention specialist, and weather caster for Fukushima TV (Fuji TV affiliate). He teaches a wide range of topics, including current affairs, his expertise on weather conditions, and information on the new coronavirus, in a fun and sometimes (time forgot) passionate manner. These "life-saving lessons" are a must-see not only for students but also for adults. The next lecture will be held on September 2nd, and will focus on raising awareness of disaster prevention.
At SEISA, we place importance on various lessons related to life at the center of all learning. For example, we collaborate with JAXA to study life in space, with SDGs to study life in the natural environment, with Asahiyama Zoo to study life in animals, and with public health specialists to study life in coronaviruses.
