On Thursday, August 12, 2021, the Inter-High School Championships was held at Obama Citizen Gymnasium in Fukui Prefecture and Mr. Yuta SUGITANI, a 3rd year student at Wakasa Monozukuri Bigakusha (SEISA Kokusai High School Fukui), participated. Amazingly, he won second place in men’s 89kg weight class!

Here is Sugitani’s comment.

“My goal was to win the first place in the competition, so I am a little bit frustrated that I couldn’t achieve it. However, it was a miracle that my last Inter-High Championships was held in my hometown, Fukui Prefecture. It was good that I was able to bring out my best in the competition.” “I didn’t want to end up being disqualified because the local people did their best for us to hold the competition in Fukui Prefecture.”

He missed the first and second attempts, and the score of the last attempt led him to win the second place. He cried tears of joy and vexation.

He already won the men’s 81kg weight class in the 36th National Weightlifting Competition which was held on this March. Now, he is aiming to win the National Athletic Meet to achieve the double crown. We look forward to your continued support.
