SEISA's ‘SHINSEISAKUZA’ Japanese Theatre Company to Hold Special Performance in Setagaya, Tokyo!
カテゴリー:SEISA NEWS(EN)
SEISA Takao Campus, the only school with a theatre company, will present a performance by "GEKIDAN SHINSEISAKUZA".
Along with the taiko drumming group “Daoko-on", “GEKIDAN SHINSEISAKUZA" is SEISA's school-based performing arts club, which started in 1950 and celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2020.
In the 70 years since its establishment, the troupe has conveyed the true beauty of human nature and the importance of caring for others through its many plays, including "Doro Kabura". In the 10th year of collaboration with SEISA Kokusai High School's Drama Seminar and Drama Course, many students have come into contact with the real thing, and have grown up and left the school.
This year's performance will not be the familiar "Doro Kabura", but a special revival of the play "Wild Thieves Run in the Wind".
This play was first performed in Hokkaido in 1958, and has been performed 774 times. It has been performed 774 times, including at the Kabuki-za theatre in Japan. Although there are no surviving images from that time, we have found that audio recordings of the stage have been preserved. We were moved by the youthful voices of the senior members of the troupe and the dramatic power of the play, and the present members of the troupe decided to revive the play.
The SEISA school spirit of "caring for others even in difficult situations" is reflected in the performances of the SEISA drama troupe, which has been working to realize harmonious coexistence between people, nature and country.
By 2021, SEISA Kokusail High School in Hachioji will be offering a range of classes under the theme of "commercialization of teaching". TechRaft, a company engaged in video distribution, editing, sound and drone business, will also support the performance.
